FRANKIE GAVIN: FIERCE TRADITIONAL
Frankie Gavin: fiddle, viola, flute
Sean Gavin: accordion
Brian McGrath: piano, banjo
Alec Finn: bouzouki

Eighteen tracks of full-throttle Gavin fiddle playing, every bit as powerful and entertaining as his previous "Goes to Town" album. Frankie plays fiddle (and viola I think) and flute in his inimitably masterful way, accompanied by Brian McGrath (piano, banjo) and Alec Finn (bouzouki), and joined on a couple of tracks by brother Sean Gavin on accordion. As one might expect, classic tunes from the 1920s abound. Throughout, quite a few of the tunes are played in alternate keys, Gavin seemingly emphasizing the moodier sounding low end of his instrument. Brilliant, as we have come to expect.
