SEAMUS TANSEY: EASTER SNOW
Seamus Tansey: flute
Alison Kinnaird: harp
Tony McManus: guitar
John McCusker: keyboards, cittern

On this 1997 release, the great Sligo flute player is accompanied by Scottish musicians Alison Kinnaird (harp), Tony McManus (guitar), and John McCusker (keyboards, cittern). While I found the accompaniment often intruding on the music, the tracks are at their best when the flute is solo or backed simply by harp (on the beautiful air "Easter Snow") or bodhran (reminds me of those old Cathal McConnell LPs), but the guitar and especially the cheezy electronic organ sound very out of place. Fortunately, their are gems like "The Lament for the Death of Staker Wallace" and Tansey's own singing of "The May Morning Dew" to make me forgive and forget.
