MICHAEL TUBRIDY: A SELECTION OF IRISH TRADITIONAL STEP DANCES

Published in 1998, this book by the renowned Clare musician and dancer provides instruction for "sean-nos" step dancing, i.e., the older style of solo dancing before it became an Olympic sport... The dances came from the two renowned Clare dancing masters James Keane and Dan Furey. The instruction is provided through a system of notation invented by Tubridy, and clearly explained in introduction. Also available now is a CD recorded by Tubridy and providing the music for the nine dances taught in the book. All of them are recorded twice, once at beginner's pace with spoken instructions, and a second time a normal tempo with music only.
