CD reissue of Maighread's (that's how her name is spelled nowadays) first solo album, originally recorded in 1975. Like her siblings Micheal and Triona, with whom she recorded "Skara Brae" in 1971 and who became much better known through their work with the Bothy Band, Maighread sings songs in Irish and English, many learned from their father Aodh and from their aunt Neili. Maighread's clear and powerful voice was and remains a pleasure to listen to. It's interesting to compare this album with more recent ones from the point of view of production and arrangements. Here, about half the songs are unaccompanied, and when there is accompaniment, it is rather simple and understated, thus letting the singing speak for itself, so to speak.
