VARIOUS: THE IRISH FOLK FESTIVAL 2001
The German (now based in Clare) label Magnetic Music's latest release, following the formula of prior albums in that series, it offers 16 previously unreleased tracks by the bands Flook and Na Dorsa, the great fiddle player Dezi Donnelly, appearing with singer/guitar player Eamon McElholm, and the fiddle and pipes duet of Lorraine Hickey and Kevin Rowsome. Donnelly's fiddle solos are brilliant, the Hickey and Rowsome tracks are excellent, and so are the Na Dorsa recordings, while the Flook material, also brilliantly played and featuring the great whistle playing of Brian Finnegan, will appeal more to the "Nutrad" crowd.
