Gary Shannon displays some truly awe-inspiring flute playing on this CD, which took 10 years to make, and has a host of wonderful accompanists along for the ride. There's a great flute quartet track by Shannon with Eamonn Cotter, Peter O'Loughlin, and Kevin Crawford, and the album concludes with an "essential" bit of lilting which has to be heard to be believed, and which goes to show that Shannon doesn't take himself too seriously. Great lungs and a sense of humor too, who can ask for more. (2000)
