LEO RICKARD: PURE PIPING
Leo Rickard: uilleann pipes
A full CD of unaccompanied piping by one of the leading players of today, considered a "piper's piper." From a musical family from Howth, Rickard learned his piping from former students of Leo Rowsome at the Piper's Club. He has a great technical command of the instrument and can switch stylistically from the Touhey-like staccato backstitching to the flowing Doran open piping. His selection of tunes, reflecting his regard for the legacy of the great pipers of the past, comprises many piping classics which were recorded by those past players.
