PROVIDENCE
Providence are Joan McDermott (vocals), Paul Doyle (guitar, bouzouki, vocals), John Wynne (flutes, low whistles), Micheal O'Raghallaigh (concertina, accordion), and Meabh O'Hare (fiddle), and this is their debut CD, which shows much promise, especially in the band's instrumental work. Backed with subtlety by Doyle, Wynne, O'Raghallaigh and O'Hare blend beautifully on a great selection of tunes. Joan McDermott, who sings in English and Gaelic, does a lovely rendition of the magical song "Ochon Ocho Mo Chailin," but her vocals are not always as assured.
