EOIN O'RIABHAIGH: TIOMNACHT - HANDED ON
This excellent piper's name may sound familiar to some, he was one of the players recorded on Mulligan's great 1978 collection "The Piper's Rock." Eoin has now released his first solo CD and shows that he hasn't lost his touch. Some might not care for the inclusion of Kenny Baker tunes--although Eoin displays amazing virtuosity on "Bluegrass in the Backwoods"--but there's plenty of Irish traditional material here as well. And having musicians like Alec Finn, Frankie Gavin, Matt Cranitch, Conal O'Grada, Colm Murphy, and others along for the ride makes for exciting music.
