KIERAN O'HARE
Kieran O'Hare: uilleann pipes, low whistle
Liz Knowles: fiddle
Jesse Smith: fiddle
John Williams: concertina
John Doyle: guitar, bouzouki
First released in 2001, Kieran's debut CD revealed to a larger audience a excellent piper whose playing had remained a best kept secret entirely too long. Unavailable for a while, Kieran's CD is out again, this time with a jewel box and sleeve notes even, so that those who might have missed it the first time around can discover a fine album of traditional music. Whether playing solo or in duet with the likes of John Williams, Liz Knowles, or ex-Danu fiddle player Jesse Smith, Kieran can deliver energetic, creative, sometimes humor-tinged renditions of traditional dance tunes like the best of them. Kieran's skills as a piper are also showcased in airs like "Gentle Philip Fahy," while his playing of the low whistle suits perfectly the gentle mood of Junior Crehan's lovely melody "Her Golden Hair Hanging Down Her Back."
