GERRY O'CONNOR & DAVID McNEVIN: RATTLING BANJOS
This is a CD reissue of a recording originally issued on cassette with a book of transcriptions. The 50 tracks are split evenly between O'Connor, playing in CGDA tuning (tenor), and McNevin, playing in GDAE tuning, with accompaniments by Manus Lunny (guitar, bouzouki) and Dave Murphy (keyboards). Like on the cassette version, the instruments are assigned to separate channels, so you can listen to more or only banjo or accompaniment by adjusting the balance. O'Connor is at his rapid-fire, triplet-crazy "best," while McNevin's performances are more restrained but no less compelling.
