MAIRTIN O'CONNOR: THE CONNACHTMAN'S RAMBLES
Mairtin O'Connor: accordion, melodeon
Donal Lunny: blarge
Gerry O'Beirne: guitar
Colm Murphy: bodhran
First released in 1979, and now available in the US, this is the first solo album by this great box player who went on to perform and record with De Dannan for several years, and has made a number of solo recordings since with mostly his own compositions. O'Connor's intense and exuberant playing, influenced in part by the playing of the famous Galway piper Patsy Touhey, are enabled by his technical mastery of the instrument.
