MAIRE NI CHEILEACHAIR: GUTH AR FAN - A WANDERING VOICE
Ireland never seems to be short of amazing singers, and Maire Ni Cheileachair is one of them. She has the kind of natural sounding voice which makes it all appear so effortless. Maire Ni Cheileachair is from Co. Cork and sings in Irish and English, mostly unaccompanied, although Jimmy Crowley shows up on bouzouki on one song. A newly composed John Spillane song, with a "wedding combo" (flute/guitar/cello) accompaniment, makes a very strange addition, but one inferior track among 17 is not bad. All the lyrics are printed in the hefty booklet.
