A treasure-trove of recordings by the famous Sliabh Luachra (Kerry- Cork) fiddle player made for RTE (Irish radio) between 1948 and 1969. Also featured on some of the recordings are other Sliabh Luachra luminaries, Murphy's own sister Julia, their teacher Padraig O'Keeffe, and local box hero Johnny O'Leary, as well as famous collector and piper Seamus Ennis, who recorded Murphy during collecting trips, and New York fiddle player Andy McGann, with whom Murphy played while he lived in the US.
