ANTOIN MacGABHANN: AR AON BHUILLE - MATCHING BEATS
Antoin MacGabhann: fiddle
Hilda Chiasson: piano
A somewhat unusual album of traditional Irish fiddle music with backing in the Cape Breton style. Originally from Co. Cavan and now residing in Co. Meath, Antoin MacGabhann (Tony Smith) is a well-known player with a straightforward, "pure-drop" style. One of the best known piano accompanists in Cape Breton music, Hilda Chiasson plays with the characteristic bounce associated with that tradition. Somehow, the marriage of thetwo styles works well here
