ANDY IRVINE: WAY OUT YONDER
While Andy only sings one traditional song on this album, most of his material, some composed by him, has the feel and sound of traditional music, in the notes as well as the story-telling words, with that Woody-Guthrie touch Andy always throws in. With the likes of Liam O'Flynn, Dermot Byrne, Declan Masterson, Maire Breatnach, Cormac Breatnach, and Steve Cooney assisting Irvine, there are echoes of the "After the Break" Planxty. We even get a Bulgarian instrumental, with Nikola Parov and Brendan Power duetting on gadulka and harmonica. This is Andy's best album since "Rainy Sundays Windy Dreams."
