VARIOUS: COME WEST ALONG THE ROAD (DVD)

An extraordinary collection of film clips from the RTE Archives, 145 minutes dating from 1961-1986. There's a great range of material here, from the obligatory clips of the heroes of the 1970s revival, Planxty, the Bothy Band, Clannad, etc, to extraordinary footage like that of Galway accordionist Joe Cooley, Kerry fiddlers Denis Murphy and Julia Clifford, to odd but thankfully few clips of "Aran-sweater" ballad singers. Overall, the "wow" factor is very high, and one wishes for much more of the same soon. This DVD is "all-regions."
