The life and musical legacy of famous West Clare fiddle player and composer Martin "Junior" Crehan is celebrated in this delightful book, part tunebook and part scrapbook, produced by his daughter Angela. The tunebook section consists of Junior's compositions, transcribed from his own playing, and accompanied by Junior's recollections of how the tunes came to be. Those who have enjoyed playing his most well-known tunes, "The Mist Covered Mountain" and "The Otter's Holt" among others, may have a few more to discover here. There are even several songs Junior wrote, one for instance as a "Lament for Willie Clancy." The scrapbook part of the publication is full of photos, poems, and various contributions from friends and admirers. In all, this is a wonderful tribute to the man for anyone who loves Irish music. A 2-CD set of Junior and his relatives playing is also available.
