MATT CRANITCH: THE IRISH FIDDLE BOOK
An excellent text on the art of playing the fiddle in Irish traditional style, by a well known player from Cork who was a member Na Fili and performs now with Sliabh Notes. The book follows a progression from the very basics of playing and easy tunes to the most complex jigs, hornpipes, reels, set dances, and even airs, with full notation and explanations of the ornaments and the bowing, as well as demonstrations by the author on the companion CD. The main text is followed by over 100 additional tunes in notation, and an extensive discography of recordings of Irish fiddle is given in appendix.
