THE BAREFIELD CEILI BAND: FLOWERS OF THE BURREN
The Barefield Ceili Band is a group of talented young musicians from an area just north of Ennis, Co. Clare, who have won several All-Ireland titles and have just released their second CD. It alternates full band tracks, with 27 musicians playing the whole range of traditional instruments, with recordings by smaller sub-groups of musicians, and while the band numbers have the typically heavier ceili band sound, albeit a very tight and tidy one, the other tracks, thanks to the variety of instruments present and the skillful arranging, are indeed like those gorgeous little flowers which grow in the crevices of the rocky Burren.
